How can researchers help protect children from sexual abuse? What does the current research and initiatives look like in this area?

Welcome to this interactive seminar held by World Childhood Foundation, where we dive into how a multidisciplinary approach to AI can be used to combat child sexual abuse. With examples from international research initiatives and Swedish cross-sectoral projects, we aim to provide an insight into the complexity of preventing child sexual abuse along with inspiring discussions on data availability and find ways forward. For those interested in exploring the topic further, we also provide information on resources available within the Stella Polaris AI hub.

This seminar is mainly aimed at researchers and doctoral students within theoretical and applied AI and Machine Learning, Data Science as well as Social Sciences, Child Rights and Health Science. It is however open to anyone who is interested in the subject matter.

Coffee, tea and a lighter lunch will be provided to the first 50 registrants.

About World Childhood Foundation

World Childhood Foundation works to prevent sexual abuse of children since 1999. We support local organisations to develop new and innovative approaches to help children and families at risk, in Sweden and abroad.

In 2021, we started Stella Polaris, a Swedish hub where children’s rights and artificial intelligence (AI) meet for the purpose of encouraging, coordinating, and intensifying AI-related initiatives to fight child sexual abuse. By bringing together actors with a wide range of expertise we are accelerating the development and application of concrete AI-solutions. Stella Polaris is financed by the Swedish Postcode Lottery.
